How English-Language Care Works at the Clinic
Quick answer: At Eunice Women's Clinic in Seongsu, Seoul, your consultation is in English with Dr. Eun Mi-na, a female, board-certified OB-GYN. The front desk may use mainly Korean, so booking through Naver Booking or the KakaoTalk channel is often easiest. The clinic can also issue medical certificates in English for insurance claims.
Who speaks English at the clinic?
The director, Dr. Eun Mi-na, speaks English and holds consultations in English. This is the central part of the visit: explaining your symptoms, discussing your history, understanding the examination, and hearing your results and options.
The front desk may communicate mainly in Korean. To make booking and check-in easier, the clinic accepts bookings through Naver Booking and its KakaoTalk channel, where you can type your request, as well as by phone at +82-2-467-3100.
How does a visit work step by step?
- Book. Use Naver Booking, KakaoTalk (search "유니스산부인과" or "Eunice"), or phone. Mention that you would like a consultation in English. See how to book.
- Check in. At reception on the 8th floor of Bethel Place, show your ID (passport or Alien Registration Card). If you are enrolled in NHIS, your insurance is checked at this step.
- Fill in a short form. You may be asked for basic information, such as your last period date and the reason for your visit. If something is unclear, you can ask to discuss it with the doctor.
- Consult with Dr. Eun in English. She asks about your symptoms and history and explains any examination before it starts.
- Examination or tests. If needed, this may include a pelvic exam, a swab, a Pap smear, an ultrasound, or a blood test.
- Results and plan. Dr. Eun explains the findings in English. Some lab results take several days.
- Payment and documents. Pay at reception. Ask for an English medical certificate or receipts if you need them for insurance.
What if I am not comfortable speaking English either?
The consultation is offered in English and Korean. If you are more comfortable in another language, you may bring a friend who can help, or use a translation app for simple questions at reception. For general help in Seoul, the Seoul Dasan Call Center (120) offers English support, and the Korea Travel Hotline (1330) helps visitors.
How are test results shared?
Some results, such as a urine pregnancy test or an ultrasound, are available during the visit. Others, such as a Pap smear, HPV test, or STD PCR panel, are sent to a laboratory and usually take several days. Dr. Eun explains how you will receive your results and whether a follow-up visit is needed. For help reading common results, see understanding your lab results.
Can I get documents in English?
Yes. The clinic issues an English medical certificate that includes the diagnosis for 20,000 KRW. Other documents include a medical opinion letter (20,000 KRW), a visit or treatment confirmation (3,000 KRW), and copies of medical records (1,000 KRW for 1–5 pages). Prices may change; confirm with the clinic. See medical records and certificates.
Why does English-language care matter in gynecology?
Gynecologic visits involve personal topics such as sexual history, bleeding patterns, pain, and contraception. Small misunderstandings can lead to the wrong test or unclear instructions for medication. Speaking directly with the doctor helps you:
- Describe symptoms accurately, including timing and severity.
- Understand what an examination involves before it starts.
- Ask about side effects, costs, and follow-up.
- Give informed consent for procedures such as IUD insertion.
Tips for a smooth visit
- Write down the first day of your last period and any medications you take.
- Bring your passport or Alien Registration Card.
- Bring previous test results or records from your home country, if relevant.
- Arrive a few minutes early for check-in.
- For useful Korean words at reception and the pharmacy, see Korean phrases at the gynecologist.
