How Much Does a Pap Smear Cost in Korea?

What is the difference between liquid-based and conventional Pap?
Both collect cells from the cervix. In a conventional Pap, the cells are spread onto a glass slide. In a liquid-based Pap, the sample is placed in a liquid. The liquid sample can also be used for other tests, such as an HPV test. Dr. Eun Mi-na can explain which option suits you. See Pap smear.
Does NHIS cover Pap smears?
NHIS offers cervical cancer screening every 2 years from age 20 for eligible members (as of 2026; check with NHIS). Foreigners staying 6 months or more are generally enrolled. How long do results take?
Pap samples go to a laboratory. Results usually take several days. Dr. Eun explains results in English.

Depending on your age and history, Dr. Eun may suggest an HPV test together with the Pap smear. If a result is abnormal, a colposcopy (magnified cervical exam, 30,000 KRW non-covered) may be recommended. Is an HPV test included in the Pap smear price?

Is there a consultation fee as well?
The visit may include a consultation fee depending on your insurance status and the reason for your visit. Ask the clinic for an estimate when booking. NHIS members pay a copayment.
Can I have a Pap smear during my period?
